When we make this kind of sandwich, we also fry the cut-out middle of the sandwich. We call it the Bonus Round [you know, like the extra points round in a tv game show?]. Also, it is mandatory…to my children, at least, that you cry out loud, “Egg in the hole!” when you drop the egg in the sandwich hole…like, fire in the hole, only much, much better.
